The P.F. Chang’s restaurant at Fashion Island in Newport Beach has closed, clearing the way for the Irvine Company’s latest renovation project—a culinary hub inspired by the center’s ocean views currently known as the Coastal Overlook.
“The community has responded enthusiastically to the beautiful coastal views and ocean breezes available while dining at RH Ocean Grill, and we will deliver a similar coastal ambiance in a refreshed restaurant space in this area of the center,” Fashion Island told the Business Journal
P.F. Chang’s shutdown this month follows the closures of The Cheesecake Factory and a California Pizza Kitchen in prior years, marking the final restaurant in that part of the shopping center to close its doors.
This new area will introduce fresh dining
“This new area will introduce fresh dining and lifestyle concepts that take full advantage of Fashion Island’s remarkable location,” Fashion Island’s Vice President and General Manager Gerard Widder told the Business Journal last November.
The outdoor mall anticipates that the project will serve as a venue for innovative restaurant concepts, offering an exclusive vantage point.
“The renovation will reorient the existing brick-and-mortar space to face the ocean rather than turn its back to it, featuring expansive windows that capture panoramic Pacific views for guests to shop and dine by the coast,” an Irvine Co. spokesperson said last year.
Fashion Island is the second largest shopping center in Orange County ranked by its 12-month taxable sales of $876 million.
