Sweet Tomatoes, also known as Souplantation, announced on Wednesday the reopening of its former restaurant in Fountain Valley in 2027 — marking the all-you-can-eat chain’s return to California since filing for bankruptcy in 2020.
The company confirmed it’s reviving the former 7,800-square-foot Souplantation site on 11179 Talbert Avenue in The Shoppes at Costco Plaza.
The brand described Fountain Valley as “the heart of SoCal and worth the drive from LA, Orange County, and San Diego” on Instagram. The account initially teased Souplantation’s 2027 comeback two days before.
There were 97 restaurants in operation before the COVID-19 pandemic forced Sweet Tomatoes to shutter all locations. The Fountain Valley outpost will mark the third location to open in the last three years, joining two others in Tucson, Arizona and Fort Meyers, Florida.
