Aliso Viejo-based Glaukos Corp. today announced positive topline results from a Phase 4 study evaluating its iDose TR glaucoma treatment in patients undergoing cataract surgery.
The results met with study’s primary endpoint, with iDose TR “demonstrating statistically significant superiority” in reducing intraocular pressure versus cataract surgery alone. The implant is the first long-term sustained release pharmaceutical for the treatment of glaucoma, according to the company.
Glaukos also announced yesterday an exclusive licensing agreement with RevOpsis Therapeutics to develop and commercialize an experimental treatment for retinal diseases, including age-related macular degeneration and diabetic eye conditions. The deal also gives Glaukos rights to develop up to four additional retinal therapies.
Shares in Glaukos (NYSE: GKOS) were little changed at $161.16 apiece with a $9.5 billion market cap following the announcement.
