Edwards Lifesciences received FDA approval for its Pascal Precision system to repair tricuspid valves.
The approval makes Edwards the only company in the U.S. offering transcatheter repair and replacement therapies for both mitral and tricuspid valves. The Pascal system falls under Edwards’ transcatheter mitral and tricuspid therapies (TMTT) business unit, its fastest-growing segment.
“The Pascal system has been a valuable option for treating patients suffering with debilitating symptoms from degenerative mitral regurgitation in the U.S. for several years, and we’re pleased that this differentiated therapy is now available to tricuspid patients in the U.S.,” Daveen Chopra, corporate vice president of TMTT at Edwards, said in a statement.
Shares in Edwards (NYSE: EW) were little changed at $88.15 apiece with a market cap of $50.7 billion.
