ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – Local officials are reacting after the United States Supreme Court ruled Friday to leave the 2022 congressional map in place.
Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe put out a statement on X saying:
“It is disappointing that today’s decision by the United States Supreme Court means Missouri will conduct its November general election under a different congressional map than its primary election.
“Voters deserved consistency and certainty, and not for the rules to be changed between elections.
“Nevertheless, Missouri will follow the Court’s order.”
Democratic candidate for Mo. District 2, Fred Wellman, released a statement which reads:
Three times, Missouri Republicans went to the U.S
“Three times, Missouri Republicans went to the U.S. Supreme Court to force their rigged map on voters. Three times, they lost.
“Republicans can’t defend their record on rising costs, attacks on our freedoms, or corruption, so they tried to cheat because they were afraid to compete. It didn’t work. More than 300,000 Missourians signed their names to stop this map, and now voters will get the final say on it at the ballot box, right where it belongs.
“Now Republicans have to compete, and we’ve been ready since day one. We’re organizing everywhere in this district, and we’re showing up in every community they thought they could carve up and ignore.”

People not Politicians, the group behind the petition that paused the new congressional map, released the following statement:
“We are done with corrupt politicians trying to force their map into effect outside the process outlined in the Missouri constitution. We have said from the beginning, people, not politicians will be the final deciders on this DC power grab. We are moving forward to vote NO on Proposition A.”
