A WOMAN suffered fatal injuries when the vehicle in which she was riding struck a utility pole in Garden Grove
Shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday, a sport utility vehicle crashed into a utility pole in Garden Grove, killing a woman passenger.
According to the GGPD, the incident was reported at around 2:55 a.m. It was at the intersection of Knott Street and Acacia Avenue.
The vehicle – a white 2007 Toyota Highlander – hit a pole at the southeast corner of the intersection and caught fire. The male driver and the female passenger were both rendered unconscious.
Officers were able to pull them from the vehicle and began life-saving measures. Orange County Fire Authority personnel arrived and took over medical treatment.
The driver was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange with life-threatening injuries. The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the Highlander traveling north on Knott Street before the collision, or who has video related to the incident is asked to contact Investigator Lang at (714) 741-5823.
