A newly built oceanfront home in Dana Point, California, has hit the market for $65 million, making it the most expensive home for sale in the coastal Orange County city.
The six-bedroom, 10-bathroom residence stands directly above the sand and has sweeping views of the Pacific. Not only is it the most expensive home on the market in the enclave—which is known as the dolphin and whale watching capital of the world due to its abundant marine life—it could also set a record for the city if it trades for anywhere close to its asking price.

That accolade is currently held by a waterfront property that sold for $34 million last year, the highest price ever recorded for a home in Dana Point.

The seller—a local business owner who couldn’t be reached for comment—acquired the underlying land in 2017 for $12.25 million, records with PropertyShark show. Though the seller originally designed the residence as their family home, they ended up falling in love with another property, according to information from the brokerages.
Of the 118 properties within the community, 25 have a front row seat to the Pacific, including this home, which is nestled between the beach and the South Strand Conservation Park.
