Galvanize Real Estate Continues to Expand Its California Footprint with Acquisition of Three-Property Orange County Portfolio
Galvanize expands into Southern California following recent Bay Area transaction
NEW YORK, Sept. 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Galvanize Real Estate (“GRE”), the sustainable real estate strategy of Galvanize, announced its acquisition of a three-property, 280,000-square-foot industrial portfolio located in Orange County (the “OC Portfolio”). The transaction marks GRE’s second California acquisition and fifth acquisition nationwide in the past year, bringing the strategy’s total portfolio to 3.8 million square feet.
“Together with our recent acquisition in the Bay Area, the OC Portfolio reflects how much opportunity we see to scale GRE’s profitable decarbonization strategy across California,” said Joseph Sumberg, Managing Partner and Head of Galvanize Real Estate. “As the cost and reliability of energy become more central to how tenants evaluate space, we believe well-located industrial assets with meaningful decarbonization potential represent an attractive segment in the market.”

“We view Orange County, with its strategic location, diversified economy, and limited new supply, as particularly well suited to our industrial strategy,” said Rachel Reardon, Managing Director, Acquisitions at Galvanize Real Estate. “Acquiring our first assets in Southern California allows GRE to capitalize on favorable market fundamentals while seeking to create value through decarbonization.”
As with GRE’s recent acquisition in the Bay Area, the business plan for the OC Portfolio includes upgrading the properties with behind-the-meter solar energy generation, battery storage, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The portfolio’s planned on-site renewable energy program is expected to generate approximately 475 MWh of clean electricity annually. GRE anticipates that these upgrades will reduce the properties’ annual operational carbon emissions by approximately 133 metric tons. Over 30 years, the cumulative emissions avoided are expected to be equivalent to those produced by burning 936,417 pounds of coal.
“California was a natural target for us, as the state has built a strong foundation for a lower-emissions future,” said Nicolette Jaze, Head of Sustainability at Galvanize Real Estate. “We intend to build on this leadership and momentum by improving the energy efficiency of the portfolio and adding clean energy resources that enable renewable electricity to be generated and consumed on-site. With energy rates increasing and power availability becoming more constrained, we expect these initiatives to create measurable benefits for the local grid while strengthening the assets’ long-term performance.”
