An ordinance giving the city new powers to deny, suspend or revoke a business license for a “problem” commercial enterprise was approved at Tuesday’s meeting of the Stanton City Council.
The vote was 5-0.
This measure, which will come back for final adoption at the Oct. 13 meeting, is intended to make it easier for the city to cope with “rogue” businesses which don’t follow city ordinances or state laws, that allow or create nuisances or outright harbor criminal enterprises.
Also on Tuesday night, approved for adoption an amendment to a development agreement allowing a six-month “pause” in payments owed to the city by the owners of the “Cloud” apartment complex on Beach Boulevard because of the impact of the GKN Aerospace hazmat incident.
The vote was four in favor with Councilmember Donald Torres abstaining.
Additionally, the council awarded an construction contract for the demolition and removal of a restroom building and foundation at Stanton Park. The vote was 5-0.
